There is an amazing hip-hop community nestled up in Canada under the banner of Hand’Solo Records. And when I say an amazing hip-hop community, I mean EVERY rapper they hang out with is freaking amazing!! They have an amalgam project called Backburner, where a big group of them come together to serve some of the best hip-hop you’ll ever hear. This year they released an album called Heatwave which once again showcases the talent of the Great White North. The titular track caught my ear instantly. I could not get enough of it when it came out in late August and when this list was forming, it secured a spot.
